A MAN from Barnsley swam 2.2 miles, cycled 112 miles and ran a 26-mile marathon - all in aid of the Pippa Jones Little Treasure Trust.
Richard Price, 40, of Smithies Lane, Barnsley, completed the Austrian Iron Man triathlon event in ten hours and 39 minutes.
Richard said he completed the challenge because his wife's cousin, Louise Jones, 42, founded the charity in memory of her daughter. Through sponsorship he raised a total of £550.
He trained for the event by completing a 100-mile bike ride and ten-mile jog every weekend leading up to the Iron Man. He also practised his open-water swimming in Wombwell.
Richard said: "One time I got lost on a 20-mile training run. I hit the wall, which is what happens when your body runs out of sugar. I had no water or food with me, so I had to force myself to walk home all the way from Silkstone.
"The scariest part of the event was the swim, 3,000 people took part in the challenge and if you can imagine everyone jumping in to a lake at once, it got very congested.
"It was a brilliant experience though. Austria is a beautiful country. It was amazing to meet all the participants from other countries."
