A MP has written to Barnsley Council to encourage them to become official partners with the Live in Barnsley festival.
Michael Dugher, who performed at this summer's inagural event, has appealed to council leader Sir Steve Houghton to officially support the live indoor music festival.
"I think that the lack of involvement of the council at this year's event was a missed opportunity," the MP said.
"I was fortunate enough to perform at the festival this year and saw first-hand the buzz it brought to the town. It was a great showcase of local talent and it showed everyone what we can do in Barnsley.
"I hope the council considers this idea carefully."
Festival organisers estimate more than 3,000 people attended the event over the course of the day. Many of the host venues reported record takings, and some were so busy they reached maximum capacity.
