A BARNSLEY road-tanker manufacturer is to create 20 new jobs after getting a government subsidy to invest in new machinery.

Road Tankers Northern (RTN) has been based near the M1 motorway at Hoyland since 1995 and got the cash to help increase productivity after it revealed it could not make the tankers fast enough to meet demand.

MD Frank Newell said: “This is tremendous news not only for Road Tankers Northern, but also for Barnsley. This now means we can fast-forward our expansion plans, creating desperately needed high quality manufacturing jobs in the Barnsley area.”

The cash has come from the Regional Growth Fund.
