YOUNGSTERS at a primary school stood to attention as they paid their own tribute to a cleaner and cook who meant the world to them.
Kathleen Allott, 61, died from cancer but had held down three jobs at Birkwood Primary School for the past 27 years - and was loved by pupils and staff alike.
She cleaned the school in the mornings, helped feed the kids at lunchtime and then returned at night to clean again.
On Thursday the current pupils formed a guard of honour outside the school as Kathleen's funeral cortege passed by.
Headteacher Julie Allen said the extraordinary tribute was deserved by "a wonderful and amazing lady."
"Kathleen loved the children of this school and they loved her back," she said.
