POLICE have branded a distraction burglar as 'lowest of the low' after they stole from a 76-year-old woman in Worsbrough Dale on Tuesday.
Inspector Julie Mitchell says that at 12.30pm on November 1, a short, slim, dark haired male in his 30s approached the lady in her back garden asking if she had any scrap for collection.
He mentioned his daughter was with him and is described as having an Irish accent.
After he had left, it was later found that her purse had been taken (it had £10 in it) along with her bank cards. The cards have since been used in two cash machines to draw out £350.
Any information as to the identity of the offender, please contact Police on 0114 2202020.
