A YOUNG teen has beaten off competition from more than 8,000 others to sing at one of the most iconic venues in the country.
Jade Carty, 13, has won her category the north west and midlands area final of the TeenStar singing competition - becoming one of just seven selected to sing at The O2 in London.
Jade, from Darton, nearly missed her chance because she was away with her family when the Sheffield regional final was held.
Fortunately, the competition's organisers allowed Jade to compete in the Bournemouth regional heat - and she got through.
Last Sunday the Darton College pupil travelled to Huddersfield for the regional final where she successfully progressed.
Mum Karen, said Jade is excited to be performing in the capital because it's 'the chance of a lifetime'.
"Jade's so excited and couldn't believe she's actually getting to perform at the O2."
The final will be held on July 7.
