SCHOOLCHILDREN across Barnsley are designing posters highlighting the dangers of swimming during the summer months.

More than ten schools took part in the Swim Safe Campaign, run by Barnsley Premier Leisure.

Children from years one, two and three designed a poster depicting safe swimming.

The winning design - which will be picked by the Chronicle - will be made into posters, leaflets and badges which will be distributed across borough.

The winner will be shown their poster in a surprise assembly within the next month.

Joni Millthorpe, Metrodome's facility manager, said: “Swim safety especially around the summer months is extremely important and if we can raise this awareness through a great competition that allows the winning design to be the visual and written message for the campaign is brilliant."
