A YOUNG swimmer made a splash with his fundraising efforts - and ended up covering 2.5km.
Hayden Dodd, seven, dug deep and swam the distance - the equivalent of 100 lengths - at Royston Leisure Centre last month in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The keen youngster raised more than £300.
Proud dad Michael, 51, said his son, a pupil at Holy Rood Primary School, had only planned on swimming 1.5km but battled through to reach the target.
"It was hard work and I was tired at the end," Hayden said.
Michael added: "I couldn't do 100 lengths! I can do a mile but not that far. I was amazed by his stamina and his will to carry on."
