ADMINISTRATORS have been appointed to handle the winding up of a Barnsley-based engineering firm - which means around 18 job losses.

Steelwork fabrication business JGP Engineering - which is based at Mitchells Industrial Park in Wombwell - has gone into administration after being hit by cashflow problems.

The business is now no longer trading and 18 people have lost their jobs. Founded in 1997, the business had revenues of about £1.5m, but had built up debts of £800,000.

Daniel and Simon Plant from insolvency firm SFP are handling the wind up.

JGP made and installed balconies, staircases and frame buildings across the UK for contractors including Bam Construct and Wilmott Dixon.
