FOLLOWING its busiest day ever, the food bank at Gateway Church has received around 30 boxes of food and more than £500 in donations.
A group of colleagues at the Child Support Agency based at Joseph Locke House have been collecting tinned meats, tinned fruit, cereals, sugar, tea and coffee and everything in between.
Beverly Illingsworth and her colleagues also baked cakes and held a raffle to raise the cash.
"One of our colleague's friends donates and that's how we found out about it," she said. "Everyone has been 100 per cent behind it.
"We sent empty boxes round and told everyone just put in what they wanted but they started bringing bags full of stuff.
"Those people are in desperate need, like many others."
