POLICE are appealing for witnesses after six people were injured in a head on collision in Worsbrough last night (Monday, October 24).

A white Renault Megane was travelling from Stairfoot on Ardsley Road and a blue Ford Focus was travelling on East Street towards Stairfoot when they collided on a right hand bend near the junction with Bank End Road.

The occupants of the Renault are all from Cudworth. A 19-year-old male passenger sustained a fractured jaw and fractured skull, described as serious, and is detained at Barnsley District General Hospital.

The Renault driver, an 18-year-old man, received slight knee, arm and head injuries and another passenger, a 16-year-old boy, sustained slight whiplash and minor cuts to the face. Both were treated at BDGH but not detained.

The Ford driver, a 34-year-old Stairfoot man, and his two female passengers - aged 15 and 16 - were taken to hospital but not detained.
