A PENSIONER who claims she's been targeted by yobs for more than a year says the police aren't doing enough to help her.

Brenda King, 72, believes she has been targeted for simply driving too slowly one day last year and for months has had cars parking outside her house and shining their headlights through her windows.

In recent weeks this has escalated and she has had concrete blocks thrown through her house windows and her car windows smashed.

She says she's contacted Hoyland and Wombwell police stations and that although officers have been out to see her, she claims they haven't been very helpful.

"The sergeant came out to see me and said 'what do you want me to do?' - I was flabbergasted. I couldn't believe it," she said.

Brenda believes the problems started last year when she was driving through Wombwell and a car tailgated her all the way to her home.

"I was driving slowly up Station Road and these two lads behind me were obviously in a hurry and they kept shining a light in my car mirror and followed me home," she said.

Brenda has glaucoma and because it was dark when it happened, could not make out the car responsible.

But she said: "It's been going on for more than a year and in a morning and evening, a car pulls up on the road and shines headlights through my window."

She has now installed CCTV cameras to try and catch the culprits.

A police spokesman, said: "Officers go out to all areas and we treat anything that is reported to us very seriously - this is no exception.

"We will take whatever action we feel is necessary and try and find out who is responsible."
