A SOLID fuel supplier has taken over a 10,000 sq ft plot in Capitol Park - described by property agent Rowlands and Co as the "biggest office letting in Barnsley in the past decade."
Hargreaves Services Plc, supplier of solid fuels and bulk material logistics, chose 1 Capitol Court,
Capitol Park, by Junction 37 of the M1 for the new headquarters of its industrial services division.
The division delivers support services across the UK to the materials handling, power generation and utilities industries. Among the firm's clients are E.ON, EDF and Scottish Power.
Managing director Julie Haynes said the offices were a massive improvement on the firm's previous base, just a mile down the road.
She said: "We moved because we needed to expand and because we wanted better facilities and an improved working environment."
Ms Haynes added: "We have now got 50 office-based staff and room to expand further. Although these have been challenging economic times, the company has done well and our new offices reflect that."
The 36-acre Capitol Park, comprising 30,000 sq ft of office space, has been developed by Sterling Capitol in conjunction with Priority Sites.
Other tenants are Finance Yorkshire and Kelda, a division of Yorkshire Water, with 10,000 sq ft still available to lease on the first floor.
The whole development is supported by a £2.65m public sector grant from Objective One (European funding).
