POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision on Tuesday.

A 24-year-old Huddersfield man died after the incident, on High Lee Lane in Hoylandswaine.

A blue Peugeot was travelling towards Huddersfield on the A629 when it collided with a grey Jaguar, travelling in the opposite direction, towards Oxspring.

The driver of the Peugeot, a 24-year-old man from Huddersfield, sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

A passenger in the Peugeot, a 52-year-old man from Huddersfield, has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Jaguar, a 49-year-old woman from Huddersfield, was taken to hospital with chest pain and cuts and bruises.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or witnessed the manor of driving of either vehicle shortly befor the collision, is urged to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 923 of 23 April.
