THE popular continental market makes a welcome return to Barnsley town centre this week. Here's a run down of what's on offer.
There will be over 40 stalls offering mouth-watering delights from all over the world, along with a range of handcrafted goods,
The market is based in Cheapside, May Day Green and Peel Square from Wednesday 24 to Saturday April 27.
Traders have travelled from China, India, Finland, South Africa, Thailand, Poland, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, France, Belgium, Greece and Bulgaria to join UK sellers at the market, which will be open from 9am to 5.30pm each day.
Tasty dishes on offer are paella cooked to a family recipe from Cordoba, Italian biscotti and soft nougat, Caribbean foods prepared in a traditional charcoal jerk pan, Thai noodles, rare breed hog roast, posh pork pies, chicken and potato Provençale and garlic mushrooms, bratwurst sausages, gyros meat skewer and other Greek delicacies, fresh baked macaroons and treats from a Breton patisserie.
There will also be plenty of crafts on offer including handmade bath and body products, Chinese jewellery and bags, wooden furniture and carvings, pottery, metal sculpture, traditional leather goods, French-Senegalese knitwear and jewellery, garden furniture and Finnish artisan wool, cotton and linen clothing.
The continental market is provided and managed by Market Place Europe in association with Barnsley Council's markets service.
While the market is in town, a road closure will be in place on Cheapside, Queen Street, Peel Square, New Street, May Day Green and Market Street.
