BARNSLEY MP Dan Jarvis completed the London Marathon for Cancer Research UK - and finished in a very respectable time.

He ran the marathon in 3 hours and 46 minutes and did it with his father, Bernard - a veteran of over 100 marathons.

The MP took on the challenge in tribute to his late wife, who died of bowel cancer in 2010.

Following his run, he said: “I am proud to have run the marathon for such an excellent cause. It was very hard work, and I didn’t get in as much training as I would have liked, but I’m so pleased to have finished the course alongside my dad in tribute to my late wife. I would really like to thank all those that have sponsored me so far."
