PUBLIC drinking on Wombwell High Street is being targeted after residents complained people were ignoring the fact they were not meant to drink there. South Yorkshire Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team say residents have asked for action to be taken because some people were disregarding the fact that High Street has been made an alcohol-free zone. So far, during the crackdown, a man has been arrested for shoplifting at Rhythm and Booze and Tescos and a can was seized from a man who was drinking on the High Street.
