MOTORISTS are advised that they will be temporarily unable to turn right from Shambles Street onto St Mary's Place, from Sunday April 21.

The temporary restriction is part of the current works to create the new Experience Barnsley Museum.

Its next stage of works will begin on Sunday.

To enable construction to be carried out in a safe and practical manner, the right turn from Shamble Street (heading out of town) onto St Mary’s Place will be closed to vehicles, from this date.

This temporary closure is expected to last up to 8 weeks.

During this time traffic will be diverted via Shambles Street, Town End Roundabout and back up Shambles Street, into town.

The improvement works consist of re-kerbing and repaving the footway on Shambles Street and constructing retaining walls, installing the infrastructure for the new water feature and paving the plaza area with natural stone materials.
