A DODWORTH man racially abused security staff after turning up drunk at Barnsley Hospital to get out of the cold.
Lee Shaun Caine, 25, had slept rough the previous three nights and the hospital was warm, Barnsley Magistrates' Court was told.
Shouting and becoming abusive to members of staff, Chantel Lowery-Green, prosecuting, said: "Mr Caine said later he would not have made the comments if he had been sober."
Gus Kennedy, defending, said Caine was anxious because he had recently been given a six-month jail sentence, suspended for a year, at Sheffield Crown Court.
Caine has since been back to the hospital to say sorry to the security officer and the apology had been accepted.
Caine, who admitted racially aggravated behaviour, was sent to crown court for sentencing on May 8.
He was granted conditional bail.
