BARUGH Green Post Office will close for refurbishment to convert it to an open-plan layout with extended opening hours.

The post office will have an open-plan counter and it will be open from Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 8pm, and on Sundays from 9am to 7pm.

Adrian Wales, from the Post Office, said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Barugh Green and we're confident this new modern service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."

The modernisation is part of a three-year investment programme which Adrian said 'makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes'.

The building closes for refurbishment on Wednesday at 5.30pm. It reopens on Tuesday, April 16 at 9am.

While work is being carried out, the nearest alternatives are Gawber Post Office, on Redbrook Road, and Darton Post Office, on Church Street.
