A BARNSLEY brewery is celebrating after one of its pale ales won the top accolade at the Gloucester Beer Festival.

Two Roses Brewery is based at Darton Business Park and run by James Taylor.

He had double cause for celebration as the brewery not only celebrated its second birthday but its pale beer, 'Chinook', was also named beer of the festival at the Gloucester event.

"We took three of our beers and there were another nine there from Yorkshire and then beers from all over the country," said James.

"We were up against about 40 or 50 beers I'd say and it turned out to be a big festival so we're very pleased with the win."

"We have got a couple of beers that are copper coloured and we will probably look to launch one of them at this year's Barnsley Beer Festival."

James is also planning to take Two Roses brews to Doncaster beer festival on April 11 and then to Newcastle beer festival the following weekend.
