A MAN drinking 15 pints a night three or four times a week has been warned of a terrible fate that may await him.

Blaine Arron Thorpe, 20, was accused of drinking a 'ridiculous' amount after making the admission at Barnsley Magistrates' Court.

District Judge John Foster, who had asked Thorpe how much he drank, said: "You're drinking yourself to death. Do you realise that?"

"Do you think you're immune from the effects of alcohol? Alcoholics suffer terrible deaths. I have seen it."

Jayne Ormrod, prosecuting, said Thorpe, of Elsecar, was among a group of youngsters arguing.

She said Thorpe stumbled into a police officer who pushed him away. Thorpe then swore at the officer.

Brian Bushell, defending, said: "Mr Thorpe has a habit of going out with his mates and getting into bother."

Thorpe, who admitted being drunk and disorderly, was fined £100, ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
