THE family of a mum dying from cancer are determined to raise as much money as possible for her favourite charity.

Carol Perry, 62, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Her partner, her four children and her brothers and sisters decided all they really wanted to do was to make Carol's last months as happy and memorable as possible.

"Put quite simply we wanted to put a smile on her face and give her and us as many happy memories as possible," said Carol's daughter Donna Eyre, 29.

They're now embarking on a training scheme so they can take part in a fundraising coast to coast charity cycle ride and Carol, from Wombwell, is enjoying helping to plan the event.

"It's almost unbelievable how many smiles, how many happy times and how many amazing experiences and memories we have already achieved," said Donna.

"Now mum is so excited about the charity ride, she has chosen what we are raising money for, which is the cancer charity Macmillan and she's getting involved in helping us plan it."

Tackling the coast to coast ride, which starts in Morecambe and finishes three days later in Bridlington will be Carol's sons Wayne and Shaun Davies, her sons-in-law Darrell Eyre and Darren Evans and family friend Glyn Romwski.
