PARENTS have lamented the loss of a library after-school club after the council cut its funding.
Darfield Out of Hours Learning has been providing assistance for children aged eight to 16 at the library for 14 years but held its last session on Tuesday after its funding was cut from the council's 2013/14 budget.
Study support worker Pauline Weston, 58, said she had been informed the service may be cut but did not know for certain until the council approved its budget on February 28.
She said she had held out on a 'slim chance' Darfield councillors may have been able to find more funding but this was not forthcoming.
Parent Christina Yarnall, 49, said she would greatly miss the service.
"All the activities they've done are very 'old school' things they don't get to learn in school anymore like sewing," she said.
