MP JOHN Healey has urged the government to back climate change teaching - amid reports it could be wiped from the national curriculum.
He's written to the education secretary asking him to pledge his support for school children learning about the environment.
The MP also pointed to the successful Eco-Schools project in the Dearne, to which all 45 schools in the area have signed up.
“An understanding of the environmental issues and challenges we are facing is vital to young people growing up today," he said. "Climate change will continue to be high on the political and scientific agenda and green business will be key to a growing economy."
Over the last 18 months, every school in the Dearne has signed up to be an eco-school.
