MP Dan Jarvis has spoken about the impact that the much-criticised bedroom tax will have on people in Barnsley.
The tax will mean that those who live in a housing association or council-owned property will receive less in housing benefit if the property is deemed to have one or more spare bedrooms.
"This policy from the government will cut housing benefit for families who have one or more spare bedrooms in their homes," said the MP.
"It's come without any real assessment of how many smaller properties are available for people to move into."
The MP's comments come after 440,000 households, some of which are home to disabled people, will be hit by the tax.
“This is grossly unfair. It demonstrates not only a government that is out of touch but also one with their priorities in completely the wrong place," added Mr Jarvis.
