A WOMAN shaved her head to help raise money for a sick two-year-old because she cannot have children of her own.

Gabriela Ingram, 46, did the selfless act at Monroe's Hair Studio in Barnsley town centre.

Money raised will help toddler Oliver Field, who suffers from neuroblastoma - a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

His family needs £250,000 so he can undergo treatment abroad.

Gabriela, who works with Oliver's grandmother Catherine Bottom in Morrisons on West Way, will raise more than £320 from the haircut.

She said: "I haven't any children and have tried for 11 years so I put myself in the shoes of this family."

Grandmother Catherine, said: "It was brilliant. She was such a brave lady for doing that. I think hair is a lady's crowning glory, so it's a lot for a lady to do. It's overwhelming."

The head shave followed a successful music concert to raise money for Oliver, held in Dodworth, which raised over £2,300.

Overall a total of £88,500 has now been collected for Oliver's family - with £40,000 of the money coming since January.
