THE winner of BBC's Young Apprentice 2012 gave motivational talks to Barnsley students to mark the start of National Apprenticeship Week.

The eighteen-year-old Ashleigh Porter-Exley, from Wath, beat off stiff competition from 11 other candidates to win the title and an investment of £25,000 from Lord Alan Sugar towards a future business project.

To inspire other local teenagers to follow in her footsteps, Ashleigh delivered motivational talks to students at Horizon Community College, Barnsley Academy, Shafton ALC and Dearne ALC as well as hosting a talk at the Digital Media Centre.

"I really enjoy travelling to different schools and colleges to talk to students about the benefits of apprenticeships whilst sharing my story with them," said Ashley. "It's not where you come from or how you speak, it's about where you're going and what you will achieve."
