SOUTH Yorkshire Police has released CCTV images of suspected shoplifters as part of efforts to tackle a rise in retail crime.
There was a slight increase of ten per cent in shoplifting offences across South Yorkshire in February this year, compared to February of last year.
During February, 859 shoplifting offences were recorded with 126 in Barnsley.
Chief Inspector Gwyn Thomas, leading the clamp down on retail crime, said: "Police in Barnsley are not taking any chances and want to make sure this shoplifting continues to fall."
Police in Barnsley would like to speak to the people shown in the CCTV stills as part of investigations into alleged shoplifting offences.
