BARNSLEY College students are benefitting from the expert coaching of a football professional with over 25 years’ experience as a player, manager and coach.
Dave Penney has played for clubs including Derby County, Doncaster Rovers and Cardiff City. He later managed Doncaster Rovers, Darlington and Oldham Athletic.
He has overseen in excess of 400 games in his managerial career and is now working as the coach of Barnsley College's male and female football teams.
“This has been a pleasant challenge for me working with different ages and abilities," he said. "I thoroughly enjoy mentoring the other coaches who I work with."
HND sports coaching student, Jack Steers, added: “It’s really exciting to be coached by someone with such a vast amount of knowledge about football.“
Dave is leading on the coaching syllabus to develop student athletes as footballers and as young people with a focus on aspiration, attainment and social development.
