A HUGE Ceilidh will be held in Barnsley in October as party of a national event to organise hundreds of ceilidhs across the UK on the same night.

The event, on October 15, will be in aid of WaterAid which works across Africa and Asia to help provide safe water and sanitation. At 10pm every ceilidh (it's a type of barn dance) across the UK will dance the Circassian Circle to the tune of Jamie Allen.

The Barnsley event has been organised by Josie Whiteley, at Barnsley College and Ian Morley, arts development officer for Barnsley MBC. The ceilidh starts at 7pm at The Shed at Barnsley College’s Honeywell site - local band The Rhythm Chaps are providing the music and there will be a real ale bar. Tickets are £2.50 through the Civic box office on 01226 327 000.
