A MEMBER of the Wombwell Running Club has run on Gambian roads and clocked up nearly 300 miles this year - all to raise money for eye research.

Judith Hygate, 49, has taken part in four half marathons but will run her first London Marathon this year.

She's running the 26.2 miles for charity Fight For Sight after her partner, Paul Kippax, suffered complications with an eye operation in 2010.

"If Paul lost sight in the other eye he would be in a poor state," she said. "I hope that in the next few years there will be scientific advances to restore the sight he has lost."

Judith, from Elsecar, even managed to fit in a run on a two-week holiday in Gambia and has also been making and selling cakes and biscuits complete with her printed marathon logos on the icing.
