A LATE penalty save from Luke Steele gave Barnsley a vital three points in their relegation battle.
The Reds started the night at the foot of the table, but were soon ahead in the 16th minute thanks to Jason Scotland.
Leonardo Ulloa levelled for the Seagulls on the hour, but just five minutes later, crowd favourite Chris Dagnall slotted home from the penalty spot to put Barnsley back in front.
Hearts were in mouths with 10 minutes to go as David Perkins fouled Inigo Calderon in the box, but the heroic Luke Steele kept out Ulloa's effort.
The Reds held on, and they're now out of the relegation zone, two points above the bottom three and with a game in hand.
"I am delighted because the game plan we set out has worked," said David Flitcroft. "We didn't let them play with any freedom or fluidity and I don't think any of their players would have enjoyed playing here."
