BARNSLEY'S heroic FA Cup run came to an end on Saturday evening after a 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.
The Reds' run saw them go into the quarter-final tie with nothing to lose against the big-spending Premier League champions, but their uphill task was made more difficult with an early goal from Carlos Tevez in the 10th minute.
After weathering the storm a little longer, Tevez broke free down the right and Aleksandar Kolarov tucked home a cross from the Argentinian, doubling the hosts' lead.
A few minutes later, Tevez was at it again, doubling his tally and putting the game to bed.
After the break, City continued their dominance. Tevez claimed his hat-trick goal in the 50th, and David Silva made it 5-0 after the hour.
"They're a team that has everything," said Barnsley's manager, David Flitcroft. "We tried to get in them and around them and tried to get near them and we couldn't."
