A BARNSLEY fundraiser travelled more than 40 miles to sleep rough in a Mansfield church car park and raise money for a homeless charity.

Big-hearted David Price, 31, joined more than 80 others at the ninth annual Mansfield Big Snore, to raise money for Framework.

With just a cardboard box and plastic sheet for shelter, David settled down for a night under the stars.

“As a drug worker I see the consequences of homelessness every day," he said. "I've never done anything like this before but I have come into contact with Framework on numerous occasions for work and I know they do a great job with homeless people.“

David, from Darfield, has pledged to raise more than £100 for the charity.

"Nobody should have to sleep rough for real but they are because of what is going on in society at the moment," he added. "This is my way of doing something to help.”
