BARNSLEY town centre's first food bank is "brilliant" according to a cleaner who's used its services.
The bank opened at Gateway Church on Mottram Street last Thursday.
Linda Morris has been off sick from her job as a cleaner at Meadowhall bus station since September after she had a fall and broke her arm.
"I'm just on sick pay and started running short of food,'' she said. "I live with my partner but he's not working either. I want to get back to work as soon as I can. The bank is brilliant."
People using the bank each receive enough food for three days with supplies including tins of meat, potatoes, and vegetables as well as coffee, milk and cereal.
People using the bank need a voucher from various agencies such as Barnsley Citizens' Advice Bureau, Berneslai Homes, and Barnsley Council's Connexions.
