MORE than £10,000 has been raised for Barnsley Hospice through last month’s 10k race.
The event saw over 1,000 entrants race through the streets of Barnsley, including MPs Dan Jarvis and Stephanie Peacock.
It can now be revealed that the event’s charitable partners, the hospice, have earned a total £10,176.
Ella Beale, head of marketing and fundraising at the hospice, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in the 10k in support of the hospice, and we are delighted to have raised such an incredible amount from the event.
“It was a real honour to have been selected as the official charitable partner of the event, and we want to say a huge thank you to Barnsley Council for donating 50 free places for hospice supporters.
“Over the past 30 years, the generosity of the Barnsley community has enabled us to care for thousands of local people – the funds raised at this event will go towards ensuring we can continue delivering our compassionate care for many years to come.
“Thank you to everyone involved – we couldn’t do it without you.”
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, added: “We’re thrilled to hear that Barnsley Hospice’s fundraising total from the Barnsley 10k has gone past £10,000.
“We hope the money raised will have a real impact as the hospice continues to provide crucial care for our residents, as they have done for the past 30 years.”
