BARNSLEY Hospital is inviting women to find out more about all aspects of their health at a coffee morning on Saturday March 2.
The event - taking place from 10am to 2pm in the Outpatients area in Women’s Services - will have a particular focus on cervical screening and preventing cervical cancer.
Susan Wood, who is organising the event, said: “In Barnsley we do not see enough women taking up cervical screening, particularly in younger age groups.“
''The process is quick and simple and is absolutely worth having done,'' she added.
Cervical cancer is the 11th most common cancer among women in the UK, but is the most common in women under the age of 35. However the cancer is largely preventable and it's estimated that cervical screening saves around 5,000 lives in the UK every year.
