STUDENTS from Barnsley College organised a swap shop event as part of Go Green Week’s Waste Not Wednesday last week.
Students and staff from the college were invited to bring in unwanted books, DVDs and clothes to be swapped or bought for a small donation.
Five students from the college's Learning For Living And Work course manned the stalls throughout the day.
Over 200 books were swapped at the stall and the team raised almost £65 through donations made for clothes, books, games and DVDs.
Any items left at the end of the swap shop did not go to waste. Remaining books were donated to Better World Books, three sacks of clothes were sent to Barnsley Hospice and any DVDs and games left now have a new home in the College’s Learning Resource Centres.
Stuart Robinson, who organised many of the Go Green activities for the week, said: “It has been a great way for our students to contribute to Go Green week at college and we hope they will carry the things they have learned in their own homes as well.”
