A MAN from Barnsley has been arrested after a shocking hit and run incident before Christmas that  left a man in serious condition.

The incident - which happened on Racecommon Road - prompted police to launch a Barnsley-wide appeal when the driver that struck the 50-year-old pedestrian fled the scene without stopping.

A spokesman for the police said: "In terms of the injured pedestrian from the collision there is

an improvement in his condition.
