A MOTORIST has taken grit from a communal grit bin at Silkstone, putting at risk vulnerable members of the community.
Barnsley Council was notified that after replenishing the grit bin at Manor Park, a man pulled up in a trailered vehicle and used a shovel to load it with grit.
It is reported that when challenged the man became threatening. He then drove off, leaving the grit bin empty.
Cllr Roy Miller, said: “This incident has been reported to South Yorkshire Police and I urge anyone who witnesses people taking grit away from bins to report it to the police on their 101 non-emergency number, and let us know on 773555 so we can replenish it.”
