BUILDINGS owned by Barnsley Council - which include the controversial Wombwell Swimming Baths - were sold off this week at auction.

Lots that went under the hammer included: 15 High Street, Wombwell - Sold for £95,000; 15a High Street - £137,000, Former Markets, Wombwell -£72,000; 156 Sheffield Road - £30,000; 158 Sheffield Road -£32,000; Garage Site Wilson Avenue Penistone - £35,000; Garage Site St Austell Drive, Barugh Green - £4,000 and Wombwell Baths which sold for £81,000

The former Sandhill Primary School site, Great Houghton is still available for sale

A council spokesman said: "Further sites and buildings will be offered for sale either by auction or informal tender as part of the on-going Asset Disposal and Investment Programme over the coming months."
