Plans to build 88 new homes on the former Perfecta Beds site on Barnsley Road, Wombwell, were given the go-ahead today.

Barnsley Council approved Ian Corner's application for two one bedroom houses, 26  two beds, 37  three beds and 23 four bed homes.

The developer has agreed that if permission is given, he will pay £220,000 to fund the construction of a new classroom at Kings Oak Primary Learning Centre.

This follows confirmation from the Education Service that a new classroom would be needed to accommodate children from the development at local primary schools based on current roll numbers and those projected for the future years it is possible to forecast.
