POLICE have made a fresh appeal for information on the one year anniversary of a local man's hit and run death.

Peter Topping, 56, died after being struck by a car on December 29, 2011.

It is thought he was lying in the carriageway on Co-operative Street, Goldthorpe, when an unknown vehicle drove over him causing fatal injuries.

A £1,000 reward is now being offered to anyone who has information that can lead to an arrest.

Inspector Geoff Young said: "Although this incident is 12 months old we are still actively trying to trace the vehicle and the driver.

"The investigation is continuing but the police need the public's help."

Police are interested in speaking to the occupants of three vehicles that are believed to have been in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident: a dark coloured Mercedes ‘C’ class, a dark coloured Land Rover Freelander, and a silver coloured Audi A3
