A PRAYER tree has been set up at Barnsley Hospital for families whose children and babies have died.

The temporary white tree, which has been set up in the chapel, has had to be relocated as improvement works to the emergency services department means the memorial garden cannot be accessed.

In the past, friends and families of those who died have tied a ribbon on the tree in the memorial garden.

Kate Briscoe, a specialist midwife in bereavement

support, said: "The ribbons commemorate the lives of all children and babies who have died through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.

"Tying a ribbon on the memorial tree is a chance for all members of the family to come together and remember and is also an opportunity to celebrate the life of their baby."
