NEW plans that were submitted for the patch of land in Pogmoor which created resident uproar after a proposal was submitted for a gypsy camp have been refused by Barnsley Council.
The plans for a 20-site gypsy camp were withdrawn earlier this year and new plans were put forward - for housing with a creche, care home or convelescence facility, which developers say could create new jobs in the area. The land is earmarked for employment use - so the developer is campaigning for the useage to be changed.
Councillors on Barnsley Council's planning board discuss this application on Tuesday (July 5) and refused it as planners believe it is contrary to policy.
The report says that 18 letters of support have been received for the plans - and two against.
