THE METRODOME has won a national award after adding a children's gym and successful GP referral scheme.

It was named the Local Authority/Leisure Trust Gym of the Year at the 2012 National Fitness Awards last week.

Spokesman Tim Wilson said: “When our facility was named it was an amazing feeling and an outstanding achievement for BPL.”

BPL has increased membership from 400 to 4,200 members, implemented a children’s gym which has over 400 members and has launched a successful GP referral scheme which has seen 894 patients more than 70 per cent of which converted to a gym membership.

The awards ceremony was held on Friday at The Athena in Leicester.

It was organised by Script Media in partnership with leading fitness magazine Workout.
