A REMINDER has been issued to Barnsley's older community to make sure they are registered to claim for winter fuel payments.
Millions of pounds of funding is available to help out older people in the UK - but to claim the money, they have to be registered with the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP). The qualifying age is defined as people who were born on or before 5 January 1951.
Winter Fuel Payments are paid at two household rates - £200 for those up to 79 years old or £300 for those over 80.
People who have had a Winter Fuel Payment in previous years don’t need to claim again - they will be paid automatically.
Call 0845 915 15 15 for a claim form.
