A PLAN to build 11 affordable homes in Pilley has been submitted to Barnsley Council.

The two and three-bedroom homes would be built on Worsbrough View and would be for those looking for an affordable way to get on the property ladder.

Barnsley Council development officer Gillian Williams said the homes would be for local people and local families and would be a mixture of part buy and rented properties.

She said: "If people are born in the area and want to stay in the area they can't afford to.

"To get a property to rent is very difficult and there's not many properties left in council ownership."

If permission is granted, four garages at The Avenue will be knocked down to make room for the development.
