POLICE are searching for the vandals responsible for blowing up a Barnsley phone box using fireworks.

They were called to the scene at the phone box on Laithes Lane just before 8.40pm on Tuesday (October 30.)

A spokesman said: "Local residents

reported hearing a loud bang and saw smoke coming from kiosk.

"The phone kiosk was severely damaged, it’s believed fireworks. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the facts and locate the

offender."

Residents living nearby reported that the debris from the incident, including firework powder residue, was spread in the road leading up to the Wellington Pub.
